    Pearl Harbor
    December 7th 1941 — The Japanese launched an attack on Pearl Harbor, which was the permanent headquarters of the Pacific Fleet for the U.S. Military. Japanese warplanes began their attack a little before 8 a.m. on the U.S. airfields. Most of the planes were destroyed immediately. In the Aftermath there were over 2,000 U.S. servicemen lives lost. This abruptly threw the U.S. into World War II, as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan.


    This Month in History
    December 4th, 1945 — The senate approved the participation of the United States in the United Nations.

    December 9th 1608 — John Milton the author of Paradise Lost was born in London, England. He studied various foreign languages and is one of the greatest contributors to English Literature.

    December 13th 1862 — The Battle of Fredericksburg occurred in Virginia during the Civil War. In its aftermath it was one of the greatest defeats for the Union army whom lost over 12,000 men, the South did not leave the battle unscarred with over 5,000 men lost in the battle also.
